2002 field day with the
Forested Flyways and RGS
|
This event was a joint effort
between the American
Tree Farm System and the
Ruffed Grouse
Society. The purpose was to bring tree farmers and other interested people
out for a day of education and teaching about the forest. This on site review of
active forest management, and the outstanding list of professional speakers,
gave everyone some ideas to help them achieve their own objectives. |
 |
Forested Flyways is a Habitat Conservation program of the
American Forest Foundation that links members of the American Tree Farm
System (ATFS) with conservation groups and agencies to improve and restore
wildlife habitat on family forestlands. |

Song Birds were the
topic with Dave Swanson, Forest Wildlife Biologist,
Ohio Div. Of Wildlife.
Dave spoke about various song birds and
the habitat requirements needed for their specific survival. The overhead
canopy is required to be made up of various age classes through out the
forested landscape, from early re-growth to mature stands. |
